Erase last 100 pages or so! NOW!
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!
That is NOT how it ends! Not even remotely how it ends!
*fumes*
(I'm speaking of Fool's Fate right now, by the way.)
It's just . . . ARGH! *bashes book against wall repeatedly*
Someone (
cheloya!) tell me a different ending. Don't need to write it, just tell me a different ending. Please. Or I shall go mad, and have this hideous FALSE WRONG BAD BAD ending stuck in my head forever.
*wail of fury and outrage*

So I've basically stopped respecting her as a person, even though I love her world into little tiny pieces of ground up awesome that you put on the top of cakes.
And yes, I agree that there's no way it can turn out well. But.
...god, seme-sama, don't make me angry at it all over again. I understand what she's saying about how love doesn't have to be sexual; I really do understand Fool's I-love-you-the-way-love-entails-pointed-look and I actually appreciate the idea that not every close friendship has to end in sex.
But it's not resolved and it never will be, because I don't think she could work out how to resolve it, which is what makes it feel like a copout. It's like Monette and her, "Well, I have no idea why Gideon and Thadeus hated each other so much." It's just like... what the hell do you mean, 'you don't know'? How dare you so blatantly leave something so huge unresolved? That's the frustrating, and sadly realistic, part.
I still think Fitz would need some serious beating about the head to come to terms with How They Do It In Whereverland because, well, maturity has never been his strong point. But I do think Fitz knows, quietly, who his great love has been, and I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't Molly.

ALL YOUR FAULT. Who told me to read it? YOU DID. Who failed to warn me not to read the ending? YOU DID. Who made me beat a book against my pillow in rage? YOU DID. Deal with the consequences. :(

Agreed!

Also: but. ;_; Their love is so true. Their love is possibly the truest I have ever seen in a story anywhere ever. Aren't you at least glad to have KNOWN THEM? ;_;

Fitz: I don't want to have sex with you! EVER!
Fool: I KNEW THAT! You don't have to shove it in my face! Now I have to remember you saying that forever! Asshole!
(And then, possibly the most heartbreaking line ever, though not part of my argument, "I thought the flowers were from you, Fitz." Jesus Christ. My heart broke. All this time, every morning when Fitz brought in a flower with breakfast, the Fool has been thinking they were from him. And now he realizes they weren't. Ouch.)

Because she has the balls to tell Fitz he's being an unreasonable asshole.
I love her longtime. <3 <3 <3
