Drabble 10 - EnjyR - "Blindfolds"
Em . . . I decided to make this one 200 words, for no particular reason.

Summary: AU: Marius lights the powder keg. In the aftermath, Grantaire cares for a blinded Enjolras.
Blindfolds
“Who are you?”
“. . . A revolutionary, like you.”
The candle sputtered, its dying light flickering about the silent room. To the blonde who sat in the wooden rocking chair in the corner, it made no difference; the flame was lit only for the good of his saviour. The man who had dragged him to safety as the barricade fell was kind and gentle, and Enjolras wished only to see his face. He would, soon; the bandages were to be removed in the morning, when the doctor came. Unless he remained blind, as his caretaker seemed to fear – what else could be causing the apprehension that he had felt creeping over the other in recent days?

Grantaire watched as the gauze was pulled from his companion’s face, flinching when the god’s initial expression of bewilderment was replaced by revulsion as he recognized the wine-cask. Head bowed, he turned away. It was somehow harder now than it had been before, to face the cold disgust. He’d not expected anything different . . . but it had been hard to kill the hope that had blossomed in the long weeks of a blind man’s friendship.
“Get out.”
For once, the cynic made no attempt at witty repartee.
