AN: For Cheloya, 'cause she asked for it and I needed to write something. Don't expect anything near to your caliber, though.
Somehow, inexplicably, it happened without his notice. The human (yes, say it like that; avoid the name which is treacherous and use the word which is still, thankfully, nauseating) and his stupid human opinions were suddenly important. It had to end, now, before he gave away too much, before the filthy, disgusting creature figured it out or (worse, always worse) got too close.
It was foolish to associate with humans outside of the Petshop, but their science, their knowledge, (wasn't it clever to exterminate them with their own tools?) were necessary and really, it would have been suspicious not to talk to any of his fellow students.
But he had learned everything he needed to know. He'd been ready for a while, but he'd been putting it off, finding excuses not to leave when he should have been making excuses not to stay. It should have been obvious, what was happening to him, but he'd been shamed. he hadn't wanted to admit that Vesca -
Vesca. (No, don't.) Vesca, Vesca, Vesca. Human. Vesca.
It was time to go.
